WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), Ranking Member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee offered his Ukraine Aid Oversight Act as an amendment to the 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The amendment would have extended the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction’s (SIGAR) oversight authority to supervise American spending to Ukraine in order to detect and prevent waste, fraud, and abuse.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) joined Senators Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA) in introducing legislation that would require the Department of Defense (DOD) to finally pass a full, independent audit in fiscal year 2024. If enacted, the Audit the Pentagon Act of 2023 would require any DOD component that fails to complete a clean audit opinion to return 1 percent of its budget to the Treasury for deficit reduction.
