Sens. Paul, McConnell Urge Biden Administration to Protect American Jobs, Remove Retaliatory Tariffs on Bourbon and Spirits
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) wrote a letter to the Biden Administration urging quick action to protect the millions of U.S. jobs that rely on American bourbon and spirits producers. Without urgent action, the European Union (EU) will implement a 50% tariff on American whiskey imports on January 1, 2024, and American wine and other distilled spirits imports could see sharp tariff increases by 2026.
Dr. Rand Paul Urges FDA to Rescind Overburdensome Proposed Rule on Laboratory Developed Tests
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) sent a letter to Dr. Robert Califf, Commissioner of Food and Drugs at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) about the FDA’s recent proposed rule on Laboratory Developed Tests (LDTs). The proposed rule would inappropriately impose the FDA’s medical device regulatory framework on health care providers developing and performing LDTs as part of their professional practice. It would also cause unnecessary disruptions to patient care.
Dr. Rand Paul Introduces Legislation to Restore and Protect Americans’ Fourth Amendment Rights
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) introduced the Fourth Amendment Restoration and Protection Act. A bill to restore and protect the Fourth Amendment rights of all Americans while still protecting national security. The bill would ensure Americans cannot be subjected to government surveillance upon the order of the secretive Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) or Executive Order 12333. While national security requires the ability to gather intelligence on foreign threats, using those authorities to conduct warrantless spying on Americans is an impermissible violation of the rights guaranteed to us by the Fourth Amendment.
