WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) appeared on “CNN Right Now” with Brianna Keilar to discuss his support for granting asylum to Pakistani Christian Asia Bibi, who was charged with blasphemy after a disagreement with neighbors, ultimately resulting in her imprisonment, conviction, and subsequent sentencing to death row.

While the Pakistani Supreme Court acquitted Asia Bibi in October 2018, pushback has left her fate uncertain, and she remains in Pakistan. Earlier this week, Senator Paul discussed the importance of the U.S. granting her asylum directly with President Donald J. Trump.

“I’ve been fighting for them to free Asia Bibi. I’ve talked to the President about granting her asylum and refugee status here,” Senator Paul stated in the interview, later adding, “I’m worried that she won’t survive.”

During the interview, Senator Paul also discussed his opposition to the Saudi-led coalition’s war in Yemen.
