Rare Op-Ed: Shame on Senate for harassing Apple
When the U.S. Senate held an investigatory hearing on "Offshore Profit Shifting and the U.S. Tax Code" recently, a subcommittee summoned an Apple corporation spokesman to appear. I was offended by the very idea. I scoffed at the notion that a $4 trillion bureaucratic monster-aka the federal government-would attempt to bully, berate and badger one of America's greatest success stories. -

Investor's Business Daily Op-Ed: Limiting Foreign Access To Your Bank Accounts
Earlier this week, I introduced a bill that would reform the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (Fatca).Originally tacked on as the "pay-for" to a 2010 bill to incentivize hiring, Fatca was intended to crack down on overseas tax evasion. -

Washington Times Op-Ed: A staggering abuse of power
When I filibustered over domestic drone use, critics said that I was being ridiculous. They said that no American had been killed by a drone on American soil and that no one was likely to be anytime soon. President Obama responded that he hadn't killed anyone yet and didn't intend to - but he might. -

CNN Op-Ed: IRS scandal needs more than a scapegoat
The Internal Revenue Service has admitted that it targeted groups with "tea party" or "patriot" in their names. We've since learned that a wider array of groups concerned about spending, debt, high taxes, government growth, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights -- basically any conservative or libertarian issue you can name -- was targeted. -

Washington Times Op-Ed: The moment of responsibility for Hillary Clinton
When I took Hillary Rodham Clinton to task in January for the mishandling of security in Benghazi, Libya, I told her that if I had been president at the time, I would have relieved her of her post. Some politicians and pundits took offense at my line of questioning. -

PAUL: Stemming the flow of wasted foreign aid
There are many examples of waste, theft and misuse of our military aid to countries such as Egypt and Pakistan. Much of this misuse has been recorded by the State Department. We have laws as part of the Arms Export Control Act that require President Obama to report to Congress violations by foreign countries of the conditions of their aid. Theft of funds or equipment, or the misuse of defense articles, would qualify in this regard. -

Wall Street Journal Response: Rand Paul Replies on Combatants
The Journal wants those of us who believe in the Bill of Rights to shut up about civil liberties in the wake of the Boston bombings ("Enemy Combatants in Boston," Review & Outlook, April 22). Like children in the schoolyard you chant: "See, look at these bombers, they don't deserve trials or lawyers!" -

Washington Times Op-Ed: Recurring tragedy from a broken immigration system
As our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to the victims affected by the Boston Marathon bombing, we should also note that this tragedy has yet again exposed long-standing weaknesses in our national security. Congress should now take the opportunity to finally address these problems. -

Courier Journal Op-Ed: Sen. Rand Paul | On his gun votes
Every time I listen to the parents of the children who were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary, I am profoundly sad. I have three boys and the grief and pain that a parent feels when their child is taken is hard to fathom. I can only imagine the magnitude of their grief. -

Washington Times Op-Ed: An ill-advised Internet tax mandate
The Republican Party is supposed to oppose tax increases and burdensome, unnecessary government regulations. But sometimes, they lose their way. -

Rare Op-ed: The GOP must evolve, or die
The GOP is supposed to be the party of limited government but it has not done a very good job of proving it. If Republicans can become the party of balanced budgets and fiscal responsibility, we can appeal to millions from all walks of life who genuinely fear for the burden we're placing on our children. -

World Magazine: Tougher gun laws based on emotion, not logic
Downplayed in this national debate and in efforts by the Obama administration to get Congress to pass "tougher" federal gun restrictions is a conversation about human nature, including better laws that allow for involuntary commitment or mandatory treatment of the mentally ill, and tougher sentencing for criminals. But if laws alone were effective in regulating criminal behavior, prisons would be empty. -

Kentuckians Affected by Same Issues as All Americans- Herald Leader
In a recent editorial, the Herald-Leader implied that Kentucky was not a focus for me. I'm still struggling to figure out how anyone could possibly reach this conclusion. -

Immigration Reform Starts With a Secure Border- Washington Times
Congress is getting very close to debating comprehensive immigration reform. I am firmly committed to being part of reforming our nation's immigration laws. Both conservatives and liberals agree that our complex immigration system is broken and in need of repair. Although the two sides disagree as to solutions, I have three important ideas that should be part of the debate and that should please most Americans. -

The government wants your gun rights- CNN
Congress is currently debating legislation that will limit American's right to keep and bear arms and infringe on the right to privacy. The Bill of Rights was made part of our Constitution to explicitly protect freedoms including the freedom of speech, protection against warrantless searches, right to trial by jury and right to protect oneself with a firearm. I am compelled to stand up for every amendment and right enumerated in the Constitution. -

Minimizing authority of judges - Washington Times
I, like anyone else, whether a member of Congress or a parent, am concerned with the well-being of our children. We all want to keep our families and our communities safe. We want to see violent predators and criminals put behind bars and punished for the harm they do to others and to society. -

Senate Votes on Sen. Pauls Amendment to Fix Nations Infrastructure Problem
This morning, the U.S. Senate voted on a series of amendments to S.Con.Res.8, the Budget Resolution. Among these amendments was one introduced by Sen. Rand Paul, which would provide $16 billion in funding towards infrastructure projects for structurally deficient interstate bridges, through offsets in foreign assistance and the Department of Energy's Loan Guarantee Budget. -

PAUL: Trust but verify to reform immigration
A few weeks ago in this column, I expressed my support and outlined some of my ideas in the immigration reform area. I am committed to the idea that we should be doing something. I titled that essay "Trust but Verify," alluding to the old Reagan doctrine that if you are going to make a deal, you have to make sure both ends of the bargain are upheld. -

Sen. Rand Paul: Trust but verify on immigration reform
I am in favor of immigration reform. I am also wary of reforms granted now for a promise of border security later. In 1986, Ronald Reagan signed a deal that made just such a promise, yet we are still waiting for the border security that never came. Conservatives are also still waiting for the promised three dollars in spending cuts for every dollar in tax hikes. Fool me once ... So, it is understandable conservatives should insist that any immigration reform incorporate the principle of trust but verify. -

Kentucky Herald Leader Op-Ed: Senator Rand Paul: Legalize hemp to aid Ky. economy
A recent national poll concluded that 43 percent of Americans believe unemployment and job creation is the most important issue facing our country. So it's no surprise that Republicans and Democrats in Washington claim to be big supporters of creating jobs.
